Shark Fin Soup

Illegal fisherman are taking 70,000,000 shark fins per year killing that many sharks. This is decimating the entire shark population in the oceans which account for an entire ecosystem. If you're eating anywhere in the world and you see shark fin soup on the menu, please don't eat at that restaurant. If we don't buy it, they won't make it!

New Search Engine Cuil Rivals Google

The new search engine Cuil boasts a 3x search ability over Google. The engine was created by ex-googler Anna Patterson whose engine Google purchased in 2004 to upgrade its own system.

Check them out at Cuil.

I did a few searches and it's finding stuff I'm looking for. The fact that Google bought her engine in the past means to me that it should be a good site (Cuil that is).

Doom 2

Back in 1994 the coolest game company in the universe made the coolest game in the universe - Doom 2. It's tough to play on new computers since it's a DOS based game. For all you non-computer twits out there DOS was the command line-only operating system predecessor to Windows.

Vigil Honor

A couple weekends ago my Dad, Fred P., was elected into the Boy Scouts of America's Order of the Arrow as a Vigil Honor recipient! He stood his overnight Vigil successfully and followed up with the ceremonies in the morning. If you don't know what this means, here's what the honor means to be elected into this highest level of membership:

Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor. It calls for an individual with an unusual awareness of the possibilities within each situation.

Indiana Jones

Well they did it again and made another great Indiana Jones film. My buddy Paul and I went to check it out tonight and enjoyed it after waiting 19 years for a new one.

It was sad when he said it was a rough year loosing his Dad and Marcus but otherwise a great adventure film as they all were!

Little League Baseball Injuries

So we have a limited number of fatalities in Little League baseball due to balls being thrown or hit and striking players too hard.

Here's a nutty idea - if you have very hard objects flying through the air at players and want to protect them, maybe make some pads to protect them!! DUH!

They have ice hockey players wearing mandatory pads to avoid high-speed puck injuries, so why not make lightweight pads for chest, face, and heads which are flexible enough to move freely but keeps kids/adults from getting severe and fatal injuries.

Negative Reporting

I often comment when people ask me if I watch the news "nah, all they do is report negative information." I read all of my recent posts and they're no better!

Moving forward I will mix it up with good and bad stuff.

Bees Are Struggling

Sheesh - more negative reporting here. The bees in commercial hives are dying a rate of about 32%. These are used to pollinate a bunch of plants around the entire nation that affect other important systems we use every day.

So we have a food crisis, fuel crisis, a big cyclone killing 22,000 and 41,000 missing, and now sick bees.

Looks like the world is winding down. Wahahahahahah!
